The average American eats roughly 193 pounds of beef, pork or chicken a year, which adds up to nearly 3.7 pounds per week. Compound that by a family of four and you're up to 12 pounds of meat a week going through your house.
While your health is an important factor, you may be even more motivated by the reduction in your grocery bill. Cutting out meat just once a week could save you between 10 and 40 dollars depending on the type and quality of the meat you eat.
