Meatless Meals Your Family Will Love

Updated: Jan 7, 2019

By Britney Menter

Are you craving some new flavors in your weekly dinner routine? Getting stuck in a food rut happens to everyone and shaking it up can seem intimidating, but introducing new types of meals to your family can have several benefits.

Vegan and vegetarian diets are growing in popularity and even if you haven't fully jumped on the bandwagon, there are little things you can do to get some of the benefits of meatless meals. Cutting out meat just one day a week can reduce your rate of heart disease and stroke, as well as lower your cancer risk and diabetes. Seem like a stretch? The average American eats roughly 193 pounds of beef, pork or chicken a year, which adds up to nearly 3.7 pounds per week. Compound that by a family of four and you're up to 12 pounds of meat a week going through your house.

While your health is an important factor, you may be even more motivated by the reduction in your grocery bill. Cutting out meat just once a week could save you between 10 and 40 dollars depending on the type and quality of the meat you eat.

So are you ready to give it a try? We've put together a list of 10 meals to try for Meatless Monday that won't have you missing the meat!
